This is one of approximately 2,200 houses that are still extant out of more than 5,000 that were built by the end of 1906 in Seattle’s Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods.

A complete permit history and record of ownership and occupation have not yet been prepared for this property; however, the house appears to have been owned by Sam Caluo from 1920 until at least 1937. Elder and Rosetta Williams acquired the house from Neta Morrow in 1992. Elder Williams sold the house to Jarl H. Priest and Brook A. Maple in 2002, who in turn sold it to James W. Longtin in 2006.

The steeply sloped, cross-gables roof, enclosed soffits, full width, hip-roofed porch, numerous bays, and Tuscan porch columns are all elements associated with Queen Anne – Free Classic design.

The house was built in 1901 (King County Property Record Card and King County Assessor Property Characteristics Report 7/29/08). The Property Record Card indicates that the basement and foundation were remodeled in 1926.
