This is a well-executed late Queen Anne, early 20th Century transitional design with a distinct Prairie foursquare flavor and a high degree of integrity.
This is one of approximately 2,200 houses that are still extant out of more than 5,000 that were built by the end of 1906 in Seattle’s Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods.
A complete permit history and record of ownership and occupation have not yet been prepared for this property; however, the house appears to have been owned by Glen C. Humes in 1937 and by Clemence Nassi by 1948 (though Nassi’s name is shown in the space reserved for the architect’s name on the Property Record Card). The house was later acquired by Jennie Romey in 1956, James Jackson, Jr. in 1956, and Larry Rainwater in 1969. The current owner acquired the property from Megan Twibell in 2005, who purchased it from David and Georgia Platt in 2002, who in turn acquired the house from a savings and loan and/or title company about the same time.

| Appearance |
This is a one-and-a-half story, clapboard and drop siding clad, wood frame single-family residence on a concrete foundation over a full basement. The relatively low, rectangular form, moderately sloped, hipped roof, and deep eaves with enclosed and bracketed soffits accentuate the horizontal lines of the house and are suggestive of the Prairie style, as are the rectangular pier at the porch and the limited window banding. The deep, multi-component entablature wrapping the house just below the eaves suggests the design is transitional from late Queen Anne work with a hint of early Classical Revival.
