This is an unusually fine, if especially tame, example of the Shingle style exhibiting a high degree of design and material integrity.
This is one of approximately 2,200 houses built in 1906 or before that survives in the core residential neighborhoods of the city, including the Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill.
A complete permit history and record of ownership and occupation have not yet been prepared for this property; however, R. W. Perry appears to have owned the house from about 1910 until at least 1937. It was acquired by Karl D. Evans and his wife in 1943, by Mary Grace Slattery in 1948, by Marvin E. Evans in 1951 (?), by Jerry L.Benson in 1970, by Allen Draher (from Robert and Mary Steenson) in 1995, by Peter Bergler and Brent Haynes in 1999, and has been owned by Daniel and Ann Wilson since 2003.

The house is a two-and-a-half story, shingle and stone clad, wood frame single-family residence on a concrete foundation, over a full basement.
The variety of steeply and moderately pitched roof surfaces, the small, gable faced dormers with their steeply sloped roofs, and the enclosed soffits are elements customarily associated with Queen Anne design, as are the simple door and window surrounds and the delicately detailed entry door with large window, and to a lesser degree, the large stone chimney. The restrained character of the overall composition, the continuous wood shingle cladding above the entry level, the large front facing gambrel gable, the contrast of the upper level siding with the more rustic character of the stone cladding at the entry level, the heavy stone supporting element at what initially appears to be a full width enclosed porch, and the double-hung windows in the upper levels, with equal sized sashes, some featuring a regular pattern of small rectangular panes in the upper sash, and a single pane in the lower sash, are all elements associated with the Shingle style variant of Queen Anne. The near symmetry of the façade, the centrality of the entry, and the generous side lights at the front door give the house a somewhat classical flavor despite the absence of any of the elements customarily associated with the “free classic” variant of Queen Anne work.
The house is located on a large park-like parcel near the east end of Interlaken Boulevard and Interlaken Park, and because its size (and that of its similarly scaled immediate neighbors), its distinctive styling, and the resulting contrast with the character and density of nearby residential development, it enjoys some local prominence.
The house was built in 1904 according to the King County GIS Center Property Report, accessed March 6, 2008. However, the King County Property Record Card gives the date as 1909.
