This is a good example of Shingle style architecture possessing a high degree of integrity.
This is one of approximately 2,200 houses built in 1906 or before that survives in the core residential neighborhoods of the city, including the Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill.
A complete permit history and record of ownership and occupation have not yet been prepared for this property; however, the house appears to have been owned by A. M. Hansen from 1920 until at least 1937. It was acquired by Wiley W. Hemphill in 1947, by Stuart D. Borker, Jr. in 1964 [spelling of name unclear in source], and by Ralph H. Palumbo and wife in 1972. The current owners have owned the structure since acquiring it from Sheryl S. Ball and Gerard Trimpin in 1991.

It appears this property may have initially been addressed as 1707 Interlaken Parkway.
This is a two story, shingle and brick clad wood frame single-family residence on a concrete foundation, over a full basement.
The continuous wood shingle cladding at the upper story with contrasting brick cladding at the entry level, the asymmetrical façade with its irregular, steeply pitched roof line, including a main roof with side facing clipped gables, shed roofed wall dormer, and front facing asymmetrical gambrel roof, the multi-level boxed eaves, the integral (recessed) porch with massive brick piers, the numerous strips of three or more windows, the simple door and window surrounds and the delicately detailed entry door with large window, are all elements customarily associated with the Queen Anne variant known as the Shingle style. The original metal tile roof has been replaced with asphalt composition roofing.
The house is located with a group of similarly scaled houses at the east end of Interlaken Boulevard and Interlaken Park and enjoys some prominence as a resident of that Single style enclave in the midst of a number of smaller and more densely packed residential development.
The house was built in 1904 according to the King County GIS Center Property Report, accessed March 6, 2008. However, the King County Property Record Card gives the date as 1910.
