This wood frame religious meeting hall was constructed in circa 1928 for the Nichiren Buddhist Church. The design is attributed to Kichio Allen Arai.
Kichio Allen Arai was
the first Asian American to graduate from the Architecture program at the University of Washington. Arai went on to receive his
Masters in Architecture from Harvard University, and he is known for his contributions to
the design of numerous buildings associated with the Japanese community in the Pacific Northwest. This property is in the local International Special Review District.
