This is a good example of the early Craftsman style with residual elements of late Queen Anne Free Classic and Spindlework design. The structure’s design integrity has been somewhat compromised by alterations to the cladding and the replacement of most of the windows.
This is one of approximately 2,200 houses that are still extant out of more than 5,000 that were built by the end of 1906 in Seattle’s Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods.
A complete permit history, and a complete record of ownership and occupation have not yet been prepared for this property; however, it appears to have been owned by Raymond C. LaMarc and his wife from about 1934 until at least 1937. The property was apparently acquired by Lyle G. Taylor in 1955, by Robert Robinson in 1956, and by Stevens-Norton Inc. in 1957. Kevin A. Holloway appears to have purchased the home from Jo Ann Taylor in 1996. It was then acquired by Lori L. Holloway in 1997, by Deborah Girdwood and Jeremy Hook in 2000, by Aimee J. Sixel in 2002, and by the current owner in 2004.

This is a one-and-a-half story, clapboard clad, wood frame single-family residence on a post and beam foundation. There does not appear to be a basement.
The rectangular plan is capped by a gable roof with moderate overhangs, open soffits, and exposed rafter tails. At least one shed roofed wall dormer was visible at the south elevation in 1937; however, the side elevations of this structure are difficult to observe at present.
The original windows and doors are characterized by patterns and details customarily associated with Queen Anne architecture. However; the simple rectangular footprint, the moderate roof slope, the exposed rafter tails, the relatively wide bargeboards supported by triangular timber knee-braces, and the detailing of the original shingle and clapboard siding are all more typical of Craftsman bungalow design.
This house was built in 1904. It appears that the cladding system has undergone several changes. In 1937, the upper third of the house was clad with shingles and the body of the house below with clapboard siding. By the early 1960s, the entire house was sided with composition shingles. This material has since been removed and replaced entirely with relatively wide clapboards (i.e., bevel siding with an exposure significantly greater than that of the clapboards observed by the Assessor in 1937).
The original, and somewhat unusual, porch columns (actually stout colonettes, each comprised of a turned Tuscan column atop a tall integral base with a square profile) still remain at the front edge of the porch, but the original turned baluster railings that spanned between the columns have been dismantled and rebuilt using simpler milled wood elements.
It appears most of the original wood windows have been replaced with aluminum.
