This is a fairly typical example of late, small scale Queen Anne - Free Classic architecture with a slight Shingle style flavor added by the gambrel roof. The structure enjoys a high degree of integrity despite some minor detail alterations and the replacement of some windows.
This is one of approximately 2,200 houses that are still extant out of more than 5,000 that were built by the end of 1906 in Seattle’s Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods.
The houses at 817, 821 and 825 30th Avenue appear to have been built as a group by a single contractor and appear to have been built on similar floor plans. The houses are situated in a plat known as Kelsey's 1st Addition, located at the northeast corner of Henry Yesler's donation land claim.
A complete permit history, and a complete record of ownership and occupation have not yet been prepared for this property; however, the house appears to have been owned by Sarah Ann Gold when it was surveyed by the Assessor in 1937. The current taxpayers, Shirley & June Davis, appear to have acquired the property from Ralph G. Davis in 1999.

| Appearance |
This is a one-and-a-half story, clapboard clad, wood frame single-family residence on a concrete foundation, over a full basement. The essentially rectangular plan (made slightly "L" shaped by an minor extension of the plan at the back southwest corner othe structure) is capped by a cross gabled gambrel roof with moderate overhangs and enclosed soffits.
The windows and doors are characterized by patterns and details customarily associated with Queen Anne design. The pent enclosed gambrel style gables are also often associated with Queen Anne work. The simple built-up friezes at the overhangs and eaves and the Tuscan column at the outside corner of the recessed entry porch are Queen Anne - Free Classic design elements.
This house was built in 1904. The sashes at a few of the windows at the side elevations appear to have been replaced. Very small gable vents have been added at the gables. The porch rail has been altered and metal railings have been added to the porch stairs.
