Significance |
|
This is a fairly typical example of American Foursquare architecture combining late Queen Anne fenestration with early twentieth century details at the eaves and porches. The structure’s design integrity has been somewhat compromised by alterations.
This is one of approximately 2,200 houses that are still extant out of more than 5,000 that were built by the end of 1906 in Seattle’s Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods.
A complete permit history, and a complete record of ownership and occupation have not yet been prepared for this property.

Appearance |
This house was built in 1906.
There appears to be an early one story addition at the rear. Some of the windows appear to have been replaced or modified and the front door has been replaced. The siding, which was covered with composition or cement asbestos shakes in the 1950s, appears to have been refurbished and returned to its original state except at the cornice, which has been altered by removal of the dentil strip. The porch roof has been altered by removal of the decorative balustrade which originally surmounted it and the addition of a new hip roof. The porch steps have been rebuilt.
