Appearance
This house was built in 1870 according to the King County Property Record  Card (the King County GIS Center Property Report indicates that the structure was built in 1901; however, the database from which this information is drawn cannot record a construction date earlier than 1900).

The current owner reports that an initial cabin, dating from 1886, is incorporated into the existing house. In fact, the roof of the original house is enclosed within the rafters of the present structure. The original cabin had a root cellar. The owner reports that the interior "Victorian" detailing has been maintained.

The basement was remodeled in the period from 1931-1934 according to the King County Property Record Card.

The structure appears to have been significantly modified at least twice (original cabin enclosed within larger structure at an early date, and basement remodeled in 1930s). Several of the original double hung and cottage style windows at the front of the house appear to have been replaced with fixed pane windows. The original shingle siding at the gables was replaced with composition or cement/asbestos shingle siding prior to 1956 and much of the spindlework detailing at the front elevation was removed by that date as well.
