This is an example of American foursquare architecture featuring residual elements of Queen Anne design combined with early Prairie style surface detailing given a slight Spanish or Mission flavor by the soffits. The structure’s design integrity has been compromised by the replacement and expansion of the entry porch, the loss of the original porch detailing, and changes to some of the windows.
This is one of approximately 2,200 houses that are still extant out of more than 5,000 that were built by the end of 1906 in Seattle’s Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods.
A complete permit history, and a complete record of ownership and occupation have not yet been prepared for this property.

| Appearance |
This is a two story, clapboard and shingle clad, wood frame single-family residence on a concrete foundation, over a nearly full basement. The essentially rectangular plan is capped by a hip roof with a hipped, ront facing dormer, extensive overhangs, and enclosed soffits with spaced modillions.
The windows and doors are characterized by patterns and details customarily associated with late Queen Anne and early 20th century work. The cutaway bay at the front of the structure is a typical Queen Anne device and the Tuscan columns of the original entry porch are typical features of Queen Anne -- Free Classic design, but the siding pattern is more characteristic of the Prairie style. The modillions give the structure a slight Mission or Spanish Colonial flavor.
This house was built in 1906 according to the King County Property Record Card and the King County GIS Center Property Report.
The original half width front porch, which features partial height Tuscan columns, has been replaced by a full width front porch with built up piers, railings, and new entry steps. The front facing dormer window has been replaced by a vent. False shutters have been added at some of the upper story windows. The cladding may have been refurbished but the character of the original siding and detailing has been retained except at the porch.
