This is one of approximately 2,200 houses that are still extant out of more than 5,000 that were built by the end of 1906 in Seattle’s Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods.

| Appearance |
The hip roof with intersecting cross gable and the cut-away bays are typical features of Queen Anne design. The built up Tuscan piers at the porch anticipate early twentieth century Prairie and Craftsman style work.
Although the forms of the two structures differ, the details of this structure are similar to those of the house at 1120 16th Avenue, suggesting they were built or designed by the same person.
Security bars have been added to several of the windows, including those opening onto the porch. The entry stairs may have been altered.
