Appearance
The shingle siding and gambrel roof in combination suggest the Queen Anne -- Shingle style though the other elements of the design suggest an eclectic collection of Queen Anne details applied to a bungalow or gable front vernacular scheme.

There is a second structure on the site, addressed as 917A 17th Avenue (917-1/2 17th Avenue on the King County Property Record Card), that was built in 1911 according to the King County Property Record Card (or built in the 1920s and later moved to the present site, according to the current owner of 917B). This structure was not surveyed.

There appears to be an early shack-like addition at the back of the gambrel roofed house (917B). The recessed windows inset into the lower slope of the gambrel roof at the north and south elevations appear in the Assessor's photo of 1937 and are original according to the owner.
