This is one of approximately 2,200 houses that are still extant out of more than 5,000 that were built by the end of 1906 in Seattle’s Central Area, Eastlake, First Hill, Leschi, Madison Park, Madrona, and North Capitol Hill neighborhoods.
This structure was surveyed for the City in 1991 (see separate database entry).

| Appearance |
The exposed rafter tails and built up piers at the porch, both features of the house when this structure was completed, added a Craftsman style flavor to the Shingle style composition.
This house is part of a group that includes the structures at 619 and 615 20th Avenue.
The dormer soffits have been rebuilt (enclosing the originally exposed rafter tails). The detailing at the porch piers has been simplified. Most of the windows appear to have been altered or replaced in kind in the existing openings but without the divided upper lights that characterized the structure when it was completed.
