Appearance
This is an example of vernacular gable-front-and-wing typology with spindlework detailing that gives the structure the character of a Queen Anne cottage. The wrap around porch and the decorative use of cladding materials are typical of Queen Anne work. The corner boards, the drop siding, the wood trim banding, and the small decorative truss in the front gable give the design a slight Stick style flavor.

This house was built in 1897 according to the King County Property Record Card; however, the King County GIS Center Property Report indicates that the structure was built in 1900 (it should be noted that the computer database from which the latter date is drawn cannot record a construction date earlier than 1900). According to the King County Property Record Card, the house was remodeled in 1913, apparently to add the basement. The King County GIS Center Property Report records that the house was remodeled again in 1992; however, the extent of the work undertaken at that time is not indicated.

The exact extent of the recent remodel is not readily apparent. Most of the original windows have been replaced with aluminum units. The hint of a sunburst pattern in the cladding was in place by 1937.
