Although the building retains original brick cladding, its major façade has actually been considerably altered. The building was built around 1917. By 1923, it housed Swanson Welding and Manufacturing Company. Despite the alterations, the building has some presence along First Avenue South.

This small building is one story with a mezzanine level. It is rectangular in plan, 24 feet along First Avenue South and apparently 148 feet in depth. It originally presented itself as a one story building with a straight parapet and with a gabled mezzanine level, barely visible above the parapet. The main façade retains its brick cladding, but the curved parapet in wood above the original straight parapet is a much later addition, as is the wooden false front at the mezzanine level. The present entry was originally a simple service entrance. The entry now consists of new glazed double doors, sidelights and a transom. To each side of the central entry, double hung windows have been replaced by new windows, each consisting of a large window, topped by a transom light.
