Historic Name: Cole's Marina Common Name: Hebert Yachts
Style: Vernacular Neighborhood: South Lake Union
Built By: Year Built: 1972

Significance

This one-story commercial building was constructed in 1972 for Cole’s Marina Yacht Charter & Sales (Polk 1973). Admiralty of Seattle, Inc., Yacht Sales, succeeded Cole’s in 1979 (Polk, 1979). It currently houses Hebert Yachts.

Although the building appears to be quite intact, it lacks noteworthy architectural details and historical associations.  In the opinion of this survey it is unlikely to meet the criteria of the Seattle Landmarks Ordinance.

Appearance

This modest one-story, wood frame building is rectangular in plan with 3,015 square feet of usable space. It is clad in diagonal and horizontal siding and is symmetrical in design.  Its flat roof with deeply projecting eaves is divided in two by the center section of the building that pops up above the roof by about four feet, has a flat roof and parapets, and features a large business sign on the front. In the center of the front facade are glazed wood frame double entry doors accessed via a projecting wood entry platform with three steps in front. The entry is flanked by display cases featuring yacht listings and three part storefront windows on either side. Similar, two-part windows are located on the north and south facades. Sloping vinyl awnings shield the display cases, windows and entry. Surface parking is provided in front and along the north and south sides of the building.
