Significance |
|
This one story commercial building was constructed in 1959 to house a company called Commercial Neon, which also owned the building. Tax records from 1960 show a brick clad front facade with a loading bay at the south end, two smallish rectangular windows and a large projecting blade sign above the entry. The windows and door openings on the front facade have been significantly altered. The loading bay has been filled in with a full-height, multi-pane aluminum frame window, several small rectangular windows have been added, and the entry door has been replaced with a full height recessed entry with small rectangular windows in the alcove. The blade sign has been removed. Windows on the poured concrete south wall also appear to be new. They are square, with vinyl sash in geometric patterns. A new vinyl canopy is located above a side entry door and flanking window. Based on the locations of the new windows, it appears that the original single height space has been divided into several floors.
While constructed during an important period of industrial, commercial and warehouse development in the district, due to the degree of alterations this property no longer retains sufficient integrity to convey it's historical associations or design attributes.
