This Craftsman style single family residence is in the Uptown neighborhood.

The 1935 Polk directory listed Charles F. and Estella V. as the building occupants. Charles worked as a trainman with Municipal Street Railway System. The couple previously lived at 213 Crockett. Dominico Zadra purchased the house in November of 1936. The couple moved to 807 Sixth Avenue N by 1937. Charles F. Bramble lived in the house from 1938 through 1939. Hubert DelMissier lived in the house in 1941. August J. Zadra lived in the house from 1942 through ca. 1947, he had previously lived at 567 Valley Street, and moved back there in 1948. Jessie L. McCormick lived at 565 Valley Street from 1948 through 1951. Olaf Record lived in the house by 1953. Anne Larsen lived in the house in 1954. No listings were available for 1955 and 1956, but by 1957 Jay R. Hannon lived in the house. He remained through 1958 followed by David Satko in 1959. The house was vacant in 1960. T. W. Eschbach lived in the house from 1961 through 1962 before it sat vacant. Drewey W. Christian lived in the house from 1965 through 1967. The house was vacant from 1968 through 1975.

The house retains good integrity and is a good example of a Craftsman style residence in the neighborhood.

Constructed ca. 1908, this one-and-a-half-story single family bungalow form residence is located along Valley Street. The front facade faces north. The west side of the lot abuts an alley. The site slopes slightly downward from west to east, and from north to south. The building has a rectangular plan.

A front gable roof clad in asphalt composition shingles shelters interior spaces. It features broad gable and eave projections with exposed rafter ends. Decorative brackets support the projecting gable ends. V-groove boards comprise the soffit. Gable ends feature wide barrage boards with a narrow rake molding. A small pent roof projects on the front facade at the first to half story transition. An internal chimney services the building.

A parged concrete foundation supports the building’s platform frame structure. Clapboard clads the building with corner boards at outer building corners. A broad frieze wraps along the top of the wall at the first story to half story transition. Shingles clad the gable ends. A water table wraps the building at the basement to first story transition. Canted bays project off the west side and front of the house.

Windows consist of 1:1 wood sash with leaded multi-lite sash in the gable ends. Openings feature wood sills and mitered casings having a raised outer molding along the edge of the casings. These same casings occur at the front entrance doorway. Basement windows consist of multi-lite sash.

Entrances consist of a front recessed porch and a recessed rear stoop. The front porch features a low solid railing with a corner post carrying the outer northeast corner of the house. The porch has a bead board soffit. A broad flight of wood stairs leads up to the porch.

Alterations include the removal of a former detached garage off the southeast corner of the building.
