Significance |
|
This building is one of several wood-frame structures that remain at this corner; they are typical of the type of commercial development that occurred along streetcar lines in the late 19th and early 20th century. They are reminders that this was an early commercial hub on Seattle's first streetcar line, going down Yesler Way and Jackson Street. According to Sanborn maps, the building was built about 1895 s a drugstore. Later photos from 1937 and 1951 confirm that it was the long-time location of Weed's Drugstore. M.A. Weed also acquired the adjacent buildings in 1912 and 1915.
