This is one of the earliest brick buildings, and one of the few mixed use structures, in the McGraw Street business district. The West Queen Anne streetcar line, which began in 1905, ran along 6th Avenue West and terminated at McGraw, making this intersection a popular place for small businesses. Built in 1910, only a few years after the street car began, this has always housed a variety of local service and retail businesses, such as cleaners, cafes, food markets and barbers. In the 1930s it housed Harvey's Cash Store grocery, Reliable French Cleaners and a barber and beauty shop. It currently has an upholsterer, a taco shop and a yoga studio.

Appearance |
This brick-clad building has three shallow semi-hexagonal bays, two on the west elevation and one on the south. The south one is clad in vinyl siding. The storefronts are largely in their original condition, with recessed entries and wood-framed windows and doors. The second floor windows have been replaced with new vinyl sash. The apartment entry on the west is more ornate, with a tile floor and a wood and glass door topped a leaded glass transom. The east elevation, on the alley, has a wood second-floor porch and staircase for the apartments. |
