This building, built in 1910, is an early example of a corner store, a simple frame building with an apartment above. As the neighborhood became more populated, buildings with several stores and no apartments (such as the ones at 6th and McGraw) were built. Numerous small businesses developed on 6th Avenue West where the West Queen Anne trolley line ran. The line opened in 1905, going up the Counterbalance (Queen Anne Avenue) to Lee Street and west to Sixth Avenue West to its terminus at West McGraw Street. In the 1930s this was Weddle's IGA Market, a member of a local grocers' cooperative association. It was later a deli and bakery and is now an office.

Appearance |
This is a simple two-story gable-front structure with a false front and a prominent dentilled cornice. The entry and original transoms are intact, as well as two of the three wood-framed display windows; the third window has been covered with siding. The window on the north is covered with plywood. Other windows are predominantly one-over-one double hung wood sash. The original clapboard cladding has been replaced with asbestos siding. There is a small addition at the rear, with a residential entry at the rear of the north elevation. On the south is a wood staircase to the apartment on the second floor. |
