This is a very simple building, which appears to have greater physical integrity than any other building in the Queen Anne/McGraw/ Boston business district. This intersection has long been the heart of the community, as the streetcar went up the Counterbalance and along Queen Anne Avenue to McGraw Street. By the 1920s it was a well -established commercial area. While many of the older buildings remain, most have been significantly altered. This building has had a succession of small businesses, including a meat market and restaurant. However, most have been smaller service businesses such as shoe repair and the current barber and hair salon.

Appearance
The only ornament on the simple rectangular brick-clad building is its prominent wood cornice, which extends across the front (north) elevation. Windows on the second floor are one-over-one double-hung sash, with a pair in the center and three single windows. The storefronts are intact, with wood sash and doors, large transoms and brick bulkheads. Windows on the east and south sides have new sash. The rear (south) is altered with small additions and newer siding.
