Significance
In the opinion of the survey, this property appears to meet the criteria of the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Ordinance.
The Myhre House was constructed about 1904. Martin Myhre (b. 1874) (also spelled Myher and Meyer), born in Norway, at the age of 19 immigrated to the United States. About spring 1902, Myhre moved to Seattle and started working as a tailor. Shortly after he settled in Seattle, Myhre purchased some vacant property from carpenter Charles Patterson who was selling his Seattle property prior to leaving the city. The land was well placed, located just three blocks away from the streetcar that ran up Queen Anne Avenue. Myhre had the house built circa 1904 at about the time he married Norwegian born Anna O. Bierge (b. ca 1874). By 1910 the household had increased to six including two daughters and a son, ages five, four, and 12 months and Anna’s sister Minnie Bierge who had just arrived from Norway. By the mid 1910s they changed the spelling of their name to Meyers. In about 1954 daughter Liv Alice Meyers (b. ca 1905) inherited the house and lived there until 1981. She taught at the Renton School District until her retirement in the mid 1960s. The Myhre/Meyer family occupied the house for more than 75 years. Variant address. The 1905 Sanborn map listed the house address as 1508 3rd Ave W. The residence appears to meet City of Seattle Landmark criteria due to the age of the structure (over 100 years old) and minimal alterations.

One and a half story side gable vernacular house. Hipped gable dormer and one corner bay window. There are two or three windows replaced in orginal surrounds.
