This simple but highly intact house is one of the earliest in the vicinity, from 1901. The original owner is not known, but it was purchased in 1923 by Ray Eyler, secretary of a family-owned auto body manufacturer, Star Carriage Company. Ray and his wife Blossom lived here until 1964, when the house was purchased by Kenneth Benoschek, an accountant. In 1971, Leslie Corn, a computer programmer, and his wife Candace bought the house.

Appearance |
This vernacular house is 2-1/2 stories, with a gable front and a hipped wing. It is quite narrow in order to fit its small lot. The entry is at the angle of the two volumes, at the north side of the main (west) façade; the stoop is sheltered by a second-floor porch with a plain balustrade and multipaned double-hung windows. The front gable has a pent roof and a single small window. The front façade has a single window on each floor, each with a six-light transom; similar windows are on the other elevations. The south elevation has a hipped dormer and a three-part window with lozenge glass. Cladding is varied, with fishscale shingles in the gable end, clapboard on the first floor and vertical boards below the prominent water table. Two belt courses, one scalloped, run between the stories, with square shingle cladding between them. The chimney, on the north side, has been rebuilt and has wood cladding. |
