This structure is significant for its early date and as an intact example of a corner store. The small apartment building was constructed in 1914, and a small addition was made on the south side in 1925 to accommodate a store. This type of adaptation was common along major arterials such as California Avenue SW. Property owners were thus able to take advantage of increased traffic and open a business with a relatively small investment. This store has housed a variety of small businesses, including J. R. Watkins food products and an electronic supply company. It is currently a chiropractic clinic.

| Appearance |
| This two-story hip-roofed building is clad with brick on the two main elevations with clapboard on the south and asbestos on the rear. The storefront appears to be in its original 1920s condition, with a wood-and-glass door and wood sash with transoms. The bulkheads are black ceramic tile with a narrow gold stripe. Second-floor windows are one-over-one wood sash. The north elevation has an apartment entry through an arched alcove and a secondary entry to the stores. At the rear is a garage with asphalt brick cladding and original wood sash. |
