This vernacular Queen Anne house was built in 1908, making it one of the older houses in the vicinity. It is notable for its high degree of integrity, particularly unusual in such a simple house in an area with considerable redevelopment. It was noted in the 1970s Historic Seattle survey for its stained glass windows, which remain intact. The initial owner of the house is not known, but it was purchased in 1927 by Marie Ames, who lived here until the 1960s. The house has been used as a duplex or triplex at least since the 1930s. Small additions on the west and southeast were made many years ago.

Appearance |
This gable-front-and wing house has a porch at the angle of the ell, continuing along the east side to a second entry door. The porch has turned posts and balusters, similar to that in the 1938 photo. Additional scrollwork and spindles have been added to the porch and the gable end. Cladding is clapboard. The main entry has a paneled door with stained glass in a floral pattern and a wide surround. The transom on the three-part window on the front also has stained glass. Other windows are one-over-one sash. On the south (rear) is a shed-roofed porch with newer windows. The west side has two-over-two and one-over-one windows. |
