The University District Post Office was constructed and designed by Gilbert S. Underwood in 1937. It contains two WPA murals depicting classical scholars and scientists and an early 20th century university laboratory, which have been obscured by a subsequent remodel. This building is one of very few Moderne style buildings in this area.

| Appearance |
| The University District Post Office is a one-story Moderne structure with restrained exterior detailing. An extensive remodel lowered the main entrance from the first floor to the basement. The original main entrance was filled in, although the multi-paned windows that flanked the original entrance remain. The banderole above the former entrance remains intact, as does the light fixture below it. Although no longer on view due to the remodel, two WPA murals inside depict classical scholars and scientists and an early 20th century university laboratory. |
