Significance
This American Foursquare house was built in 1907. The architect and/or builder is unknown. It is significant as a large home in a prodominantly working class neighborhood and as an example of an American Foursquare with a two-story box bay window. Early ownership is unknown. It was owned and occupied by Walter and Jennie Amick from 1935 until the late 1940’s. Walter Amick was real estate broker for Mort Realty and then a salesman for the Hemrich Brewing Company. In 1942 Walter Amick was listed as the owner of Amick Realty in the Polk City Directory. Subsequent owners Larry and Alice McLerran converted the house to apartments in 1984.
 
Appearance
This house is a two and a half story American Foursquare situated west facing on a large lot. It is clad in clapboard siding and wood shingles. The roof is hipped, as are the dormer and porch roofs, and all roofs have exposed decorative rafters. The front porch entrance extends from the north end of the front elevation and runs only half the width of the house. To the south of the front door is a two-story box bay with fixed windows that have multi-paned upper sashes on the first and second stories. Above the front porch is a second story box bay window with the same window pattern. The half story dormer has a small multi-paned window. In 1984 the house was converted to a two-unit apartment. A detached garage was also built in 1984.
