The Allen House was constructed about 1904. Swedish born Frank O. Allen (b. ca 1862) immigrated to the United States when he turned 18. In 1897, he married Swedish native Josephine Allen (b. ca 1863). By 1902, Frank Allen and family moved to Seattle and ran a lodging house. In the summer of 1904 they purchased a lot, built the house, and by the end of they year moved in. In 1906, after trying farming for a couple of years, Frank Allen changed trades and became a miner, which he continued to pusue for about 20 years. They lived in the house until1925 when they moved from Seattle.
During World War II, Viola Mapes lived in the house.
The Allen House appears to meet City of Seattle Landmark criteria due to the age of the structure (over 100 years old) and minimal alterations.
