Historic Name: Beisel, A. R., House Common Name:
Style: Arts & Crafts - Craftsman Neighborhood: University
Built By: O. Jensen, builder Year Built: 1916

Significance
This Craftsman style house is a typical California-style bungalow with a low-pitched gable roof. It is one of the more intact examples of a Craftsman bungalow in the University District. It was built and designed by contractor O. Jensen forA.R. Beisel in 1916. M.C. Metzger, a building contractor, and his wife Jean, lived in the house from 1937 until about 1970. Sharron Dimmitt has lived in the house since the 1970s. This house is well-landscaped and fits in well with its corner location on Ravenna Boulevard, despite the busy intersection.

Appearance
This one-story bungalow with a low-pitched roof has wood shingle siding and a cross-gable roof. The house has a prominent front porch and a small rear porch. The full length front porch extends around the northeast corner of the house and has square columns on massive shingled bases. The house is noteworthy for the leaded glass windows, particularly on the north (front) elevation. Most windows are wood casements and appear to be intact. Storm windows have been installed over the windows. There is an exterior chimney on the east elevation. The detached garage on 11th Avenue NE may be a later addition, but it blends well with the house with its gabled roof.
