Summary: This TIP is intended to clarify the definitions of substantial alteration and provide guidance on how Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI) interprets Seattle Existing Building Code (SEBC) Section 307. Buildings that undergo substantial alterations must meet the requirements in Section 307 of the SEBC.
